Ritz-Carlton’s Nekajui Resort opens in Costa Rika’s shelter for Ultrarich

Independent on a rock overlooking Papagayo’s brilliant bay on the North Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, the New Nekajui (pronounced Nek-Ah-Wee), a property of the Ritz-Carlton reserve.

When it debuted two months ago, this “rare asset appointed by the world” became the eighth reserve Ritz-Carlton in the Globe, as well as the first property of the hotel group in Central America. It is the third exclusive resort on the Papagayo Peninsula, strengthening the status of the peninsula as one of the leading luxury destinations of Central America.

The 1,400 hectare Peninsula is in área de Conservación Guanacaste, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, considered one of the most biodiversity areas in the world. It is a dry tropical forest that climbs thousands of species of plants and animals, some of which you can see or hear while you are on property. There are about a dozen miles of coastline, with white sandy beaches, as well as walks and bike trails.

But there is also a resort Four Season, which opened in 2004, followed nine years later by an Andaz, plus an Arnold Palmer signature course, a marine with 180 beds that can accommodate mega and superachts up to 250 meters and a host of private residences (including some of the visible architects Ronald Zürcher and Antoine Predock). No wonder the peninsula is described as a destination where “ultrarich goes to avoid interacting with regular rich”.

Nekaajui was born in wealth, and, with rooms starting at about $ 2,400 per night, fits the same (guests coming through commercial airlines are immersed through customs and immigration through a VIP hotel service).

All structures here are built on the rock, designed to fill, not competing with the surrounding environment. 107 Rooms and suites look like water and outdoor space, some have immersed pools and outdoor showers. Two villas – one with four bedrooms, the other with 10 – offer additional intimacy for those who require it.

But it is the digestive tents, designed by luxury borders and located in a more isolated property of property, which are at the same time startling and extremely attractive. Luxury borders are known for their smooth stunning camps in Africa, and their design of Nekajui umbrellas evokes outdoor interior accommodations in Safari Lodges, up to canvas and net openings. Their presence adds a sense of intrigue and adventure to another DEVIATION Luxury resort.

And in fact, many coming to Costa Rica are looking for adventure, whether in zip lining, walks, Janji, scuba, snorkeling or surfing variety. It would be a shame to visit this part of the world and not benefit from the beautiful surroundings. Explorers, an adventurous attacker owned, can fix it all, whether a paddle through the mangroves or by intertwining world -class Rock’s holidays or Ollie’s Point (made famous by the iconic “The Endless Summer 2”).

Nekajui is an impressive destination for kitchen explorers as well. There are eight dining and drinking options, each with a completely different vibe, design and menu (often changing with creative wires of the Lulu Elizaga chef and the availability of ingredients). In Café Rincón, fixed coffee can learn about one of Costa Rica’s most famous exports, enjoy some extraordinary examples that never reach our shores and buy beans to bring home.

A Funcost ferry guest will Niri, the Beach Resort club, with a menu inspired by Spanish and Portuguese cuisine. Both La Casona Bar (in the main hotel building) and ámbar (a gem of a cocktail bar, suspended above the landscape) are the ideal point to get to the sunset, which happens around 6am throughout the year.

Property also boasts a 27,000 -square -foot bath and Wellness Center called Nimbu. It traverses numerous levels and, in addition to the expected treatments, offers an attraction inside the resort, with an outdoor pool configured with a circuit of massage stations and tapes located to fully benefit from water views (those views are also available from glass sauna). SPA has a dedicated menu of healthy eating options, which can be washed with fresh pressed liquids, smoothies or a bubble glass. Its gym offers cardio and outward and external weights stations along with yoga and meditation classes. The best still, guests can try restaurants and Nekajui baths even if they are not standing. But we would recommend checking.
