Jon Stewart was treated on CNN on Monday evening, exploding the network for aggressively promoting the new Jake Tapper’s new book on the health of former President Joe Biden – a Stewart topic said the network should have covered during Biden’s mandate.
“Forgetting how f -mbret it is strange that the news is selling you a book about the news they should have told you were news a year ago for free,” Stewart said.
The Daily Show host criticized the network for continuing the promotion of the book as the news of the latest Biden cancer diagnosis was broken.
“It is just a pleasure to see them not only continuing to push the book in the light of this difficult news, but in fact to frame this difficult news like perhaps even more a reason to buy this book,” according to Stewart.
Tapper and Axios Alex Thompson’s reporter wrote “Original Sin: The Fall of President Biden, his coverage and his catastrophic choice to run again.”
In a bite segment, Stewart mocked the CNN air campaign for TAPPER’s book, which is reported to include discoveries about Biden’s cognitive health, as well as embarrassing anecdotes for the former president who forgets the names of his senior assistants.
He played a TAPPER montage by incorporating the book in eight separate CNN appearances before questioning the ethics of keeping information for commercial purposes.
“Don’t people tell you what they know when they discover?” Said Stewart.
“Isn’t this the difference between news and a secret?” You will not believe what we discovered! “No, that is why I’m looking at broken news … within a week.”
CNN push time for the book has been under special control after recent reports of the diagnosis of biden prostate cancer. Stewart noted the tension between the promotional efforts of the network and the President’s health notice.
“You have prepared a whole smorgasbord based on what you thought would be a relatively uncomplicated story about mental decline,” Stewart said, referring to CNN building on the wall in the publication of TAPPER’s book.
“The news is the number of counting, they got the graphic book, they got toys for connecting CNN’s happy meal, but now making history seems almost disrespectful.”
He then sarcasically asked how the network could move from selling the book to Biden’s reporting on the right gravity.
“Can CNN needle yarn?” Asked Stewart. “How can you promote your anchor book with excitement to promote strangely and respectfully to promote your anchor book?”
Stewart played a summary of various CNN anchors and correspondents who continue to mention Tapper’s book in the air even when discussing Biden’s diagnosis.
He then handed over one of the harshest lines of the segment: “It is so difficult. It is such a difficult time. So unbearable in terms of the pain his family should feel, and yet, if you act now and use the” Tapthatbook “code,” Stewart said, following in the information style.
Continuing the criticism, Stewart said, “Just just pleased to see them not only continue to push the book in the light of this difficult news, but in fact to cornize this difficult news as perhaps even more a reason to buy this book.”
He closed showing a clip of CNN’s leading media analyst Brian Stelter, who described the diagnosis of Biden’s cancer as “dramatic” given his time before the publication of TAPPER’s book.
“The time of diagnosis of former President Joe Biden is certainly dramatic, coming to the eve of a new blocking book about his health and his time in the White House,” Stelter said, adding, “I’m sure some observers will say that reporting in the book is even more important now.”
“Yes, no one is saying that,” Stewart shot.
“No observer means that it is more important now. Some observers may think that these CNN people work on commission. How, why are you angry with F -Met? Is this a Cookie Girl Scout situation? Who sells the biggest books gets a Schwinn!”
