Ex. Beeto O’Rourke told on Thursday “Pod Save America” on Thursday that former President Joe Biden “Failed this country” demanding re-election, which he believes contributed to the return of current President Donald Trump to the Presidency in 2024.
O’Rourke argued that Biden should not have asked for a second term and slammed the former president for trying to “sell” the public for the idea that he was the only candidate capable of defeating Trump.
“It’s not just you and I, but our children and the grandchildren and generations that follow that they can have to pay the price for this,” he said, adding, “We can lose the biggest place this world has ever known.”
Former Congressman and Texas Gubernatorial candidate in Texas continued to blame Biden re -election efforts for the Democratic Party’s loss in 2024, suggesting that you have an open primary one would have benefited from the party.
“It may be in part because of the decision that Biden and those around him were made to run for re -election instead of having an open elementary, where the greatest talent the Democratic Party could gather could be at that stage, have a competition of ideas and trace record and vision, and really excite Democrats, O’rourke.
He claimed that “if anything was clear from 2024” was that Americans wanted changes.
O’Rourke also criticized members of the Congress who, in the lead of the 2024 elections, claimed that Biden was “leading circles” around them at closed -door conferences.
“It simply does not increase with what I see with my lies’ eyes,” he recalled, adding that the Democrats who covered the alleged fall in mental sharpness while in office created a matter of credibility for the party by moving forward.
During a speech at the Harvard Kennedy school policy institute in 2023, O’Rourke echoed a similar feeling towards biden re -election efforts, telling the crowd that Democratic voters were “unexplained” for a second term Biden.
“This is critical if you want to win in 2024. It’s no secret that Democratic voters are unexplained for Biden – this is putting it politely. It’s no secret, thanks to the survey we just read,” he said.
“The new voters, in particular, are leaving his flag in motion. Now they will vote for Donald Trump? Will they vote [Robert F. Kennedy Jr.]? Will they not vote at all? I don’t know. But let’s give them a reason to vote for the president.
“Something bold, something great, something that matches the rhetoric he used in 2020 and inspires voters in 2024 is what is needed now,” O’Rourke added.
