Conservative commentator Candace Owens revealed on social media this week that she was allegedly the target of a violent death threat that led to the arrest and plea of a man in New Jersey, Haim Bverman.
Owens took on X and shared details of the alleged evidence, which began in September last year after its widely published debate with Rabbi Shmuley Botach in the Piers Morgan show.
According to Owens, her family underwent harassment and threats, causing involvement of federal law enforcement.
“My family endured a series of attacks led by Deranged Zionists,” Owens wrote in her social media post from Tuesday.
“In the 21st of that month, we were contacted by the FBI and informed that their department had ‘caught a suspect’ about a crime involving a threat against me. “
However, Owens, who is accused of making anti -Semitic statements condemning Jews and Israel, expressed disappointment with the lack of communication and transparency by the authorities, explaining that the FBI initially had details due to a continuous investigation.
Owens has denied being anti -Semitic.
Six months later, in March, Owens said she received a “package of victims” in the mail with a number of issues and representatives of certain victims, but again, no additional details were given.
“We have not heard anything for six months until in March the FBI was called again,” confessed Owens.
“When we went to the respective website – once again, no details were given about the case.”
The matter took a dramatic turn recently when Owens finally received detailed information about the threat.
According to the email she received, Bverman, who resides in Morris Plains, was arrested for clear planning to kill her.
Bverman publicly shared his intentions online and posted about his plans, including images of knives, firearms and steel sticks, inside a private group conversation, federal prosecutors claimed.
According to the Federal Criminal Complaint, Bverman allegedly launched a group conversation entitled “Real Jew” and later renamed it several times.
The complaint does not appoint Owens.
On November 10, 2023, he allegedly told the members, “Please note that we will discuss weapons”, before describing in detail the violent fantasies, including Palestinian flags and attacking individuals with a steel stick.
“My favorite will [be] To bring my stainless steel stick of Brooklyn Crusher and after the person press their skull, “he supposedly wrote.
The alleged conversation took place just over a month after Hamas’s terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
Bverman is also alleged to have posted a video last September by clearly referring to a “political commentator” known in the complaint as “individual-1” by name and holding a stick while stating, “If I could kill you now, I would not … I would not give you a steel stick. I would not stop.
He is also suspected of pursuing a written comment saying, “[Individual-1] It has to be killed. “
In an audio message allegedly sent on the same day, Bverman said: “After hearing what … She said, I will go to prison, will gladly find it and kill him. I will find a fking weapon and fking to kill him.
According to Owens, Bverman had already pleaded guilty before she became fully aware of the situation.
“Haim Bverman from this time has already pledged guilty, and I was not even informed of this group conversation or this plan,” Owens wrote.
She also questioned the handling of the Department of Justice, citing the lack of a publicly available Mughot and the marked removal of Breverman’s social media profiles.
“It seems that his societies have been cleared of the web,” Owens said. “This photo was provided by Doj. Where is his photo in Mugshot? And who else was in the group conversation?”
In the federal system, Mugshots are not routinely issued to the public, unlike many state and local jurisdictions. This is due to the long policy of the Department of Justice, which generally considers the booking of photos excluded from public discovery under the Law on Freedom of Information.
Owens further revealed the clear motive after the threat, stating that the FBI told her Bverman targeting her specifically because of the comments she made during her debate with Rabbi Shmuley, in which she criticized the late Rabbi Menachem Schneerson, a figure honored by many as Mesiah.
“Haim wanted to kill me because of my @piersmorgan’s debate against Shmuley,” Owens said.
“He was clear that he was ready to suffer time in prison to kill me.”
Bverman was accused of broadcasting threats to interstate trade, a violation of federal law.
When it was reached by the post, Bverman refused to comment on the specifics of the case. His sentence was set for September later this year.
