Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) lost patience with CNN Kaitlan Collins anchor during an interview on Monday evening, leaving after repeated questions about the Trump President’s acceptance of a $ 400 million aircraft from Qatar’s royal family.
“How many times will you ask me the same question?” McCormick was snapped during nearly six minutes interview in “Source”.
“I think I have answered this question completely now.”
McCormick’s disappointment was on the full screen as Collins suppress him in Trump’s ethics and legality by accepting luxury Boeing 747-8, which the former president says he will use to replace the air force one and eventually display in his future presidential library.
Mass has attracted extensive criticism, not only because of its value, but because of Trump’s business links with Qatar – including a proposed $ 5.5 billion golf project being discussed by Eric Trump during a recent visit to the country.
Trump was hit with anger at the ABC News Rachel Scott correspondent after she asked the president about the Gift on Monday.
At its CNN show, Collins eagerly asked if McCormick found the right gift, referring to the Constitutional Emolum Clause, which prohibits US officials from accepting gifts from foreign states without the consent of Congress.
McCormick deviated, claiming that the issue should be left to legal experts and shift the focus on the wider Middle East policy.
“What I am really worried about is the process of peace [between Israel and its neighbors]”He said.” The plane will be set itself. “
But Collins was not letting the matter go.
“Can you think of a situation from a previous US, Democratic or Republican president who has received a great gift from a foreign government?” she asked.
“Oh never this great, of course not,” McCormick admitted.
“But this is not the question … is it legal?”
At one point, Collins retired back into McCormick’s repeated efforts to run the Middle East diplomacy, telling him, “Yes, I do not think the peace process is about whether the Qatters are giving the United States a plane.”
“Exactly,” replied McCormick. “Thank you for agreeing to me for that. That’s exactly my point. Yes, thank you.”
Collins explained her position, saying, “I’m saying you are not hindering it. My question is special – is if you are okay with it.”
“I got it,” McCormick replied. “I think I answered this question clearly.”
As the exchange grew more tense, McCormick tried to continue from the topic, saying, “I think we will decide over time. I’m sure there will be lawyers who take a look at it, make sure there is nothing wrong with it, nothing illegal.”
“If we have to vote for him, we will vote for him. And then we will see,” Congressman said, adding: “But I think it’s something that is new.”
McCormick said “$ 400 million aircraft, this is an expensive gift, I get it.”
“But also, not in a taxpayer. Will it be something that will have unjust software in it or something like that? This will have to be accepted or valued. But now it is not just the face of this issue.”
When Collins asked if this was a concern he had personally, McCormick Bristled.
“How many times will you ask me the same question?” He said.
“I think I have answered this question completely now.”
A CNN spokesman told the post: “Kaitlan did a great job by asking a Republican Congressman after President Trump confirmed CNN and reporting other exits his administration plans to accept a free luxury plane from Qatar, for which he has faced consideration by his greatest allies.”
The tested exchange is the last in a series of confrontations that Collins has had with Trump and his allies in recent weeks.
Last month, Collins clashed with Trump at the Oval office during one back and controversial for the expulsion of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man from Maryland sent to El Salvador’s infamous Mega-Burg in the Supreme Court ruling.
Trump insulted Collins repeatedly, calling it a “low -value anchor”, while senior assistants, including prosecutor General Pam Bondi and homeland security adviser Stephen Miller, protected the expulsion.
“The gift granted by a foreign government is always accepted in full compliance with all applicable laws.
A White House official told The Post that while it is true that Qatar offered to donate a plane to the Pentagon, Gift will not be “introduced and accepted this week” while the president is in Qatar.
